At Apple Trees Child Care we know how important outdoor play is. Children like nothing better than to get outside and run, jump and be free and we have invested heavily in our outdoor facilities. We have not one, but two gardens.
Our largest garden at the setting is used by our Snails and Ladybirds. The garden has a host of outdoor play equipment including an adventure climbing frame that the children love to explore. The garden is also host to the mud kitchen and the outdoor classroom.
The ladybird’s also have access to numerous ride-ons including balance bikes, trikes and cars, a play house, role play area, water and sand play and our vegetable patch. Part of the garden is hard standing so can be used all year round and part laid to lawn, great for teddy bear’s picnics!
Outdoor games are also part of our play, and sports equipment is also in good supply. We have balls, bats, hoops; infact pretty much everything a child could wish for. There is never a dull moment at Apple Trees Child Care!
Caterpillar & Butterfly Garden
Our NEW baby and toddler garden has been installed this year and has proven a great asset to the setting. We felt that having all ages mixed together was not ideal as the older children can sometimes be more boisterous and the younger children can get a little intimidated. It was also hard to provide equipment that met the different developmental stages of the children.
Our Butterfly and Caterpillar garden has been designed with the age of the children using it in mind. The garden has a host of climbing frames that will challenge the children, but not intimidate. Tents and tunnels are also available as are ride ons and play houses.
The garden also has numerous sensory devices aimed at encouraging the caterpillars to explore as well as sand and water play. This garden is much more tranquil while still following the EYFS guidelines.
The Caterpillar’s and Butterfly’s also have access to the vegetable patch and mud kitchen at different times of the day to the Ladybirds, ensuring that they too get to benefit from the facilities available.
