Today we took a few of our Ladybirds to The Hertfordshire Garden Centre, which is just down the road from us next to the Herts show ground. We wanted to purchase some plants for the new garden and thought as this month our topic is planting, growing and mini beasts we would take some of the children along.
As we didn’t want to arrive on mass we phoned ahead last week and asked if it would be ok. They said it was ‘no problem at all’ and asked us for a list of names of the children that would be attending. Therefore today we went along and we had a wonderful time.
On arrival we were greeted by Debbie, who had gone to lots of trouble on our behalf and arranged for the children to plant sunflower seeds. Not only had she set out tables with pots, soil and stones for drainage but she had also made the children their own journals to record their sunflowers height as they grew each week. All the children also had a name stick for their pot so we didn’t get them mixed up.
Finally after all the planting and a wander around the flowers and plants we were treated to juice and biscuits. We all had a wonderful time on our garden centre visit and we can’t thank Debbie and the staff at The Hertfordshire Garden Centre enough. They were so wonderful with the children and not only made us feel very welcome and spoiled, but the children also got to learn lots and have a momento to take home. If you have not been to Hertfordshire Garden Centre before then get down there to meet the friendly team for all your garden needs. Once again a huge thank you Debbie & team,
