This new addition to the setting has proved invaluable. It has given us valuable extra space allowing us to purchase even more learning resources as well as providing an outdoor area that can be used all year round.
The outdoor classroom allows the children ‘flow’ play. As our Ladybird room opens out onto the outdoor classroom the children can flow between inside and out where they have an extensive choice of learning through play.
The extra space has allowed us to purchase more learning resources and we have been able to create another role-play area that we theme differently each month. Ranging from a classroom to a supermarket to a veterinary clinic and doctors surgery, the list goes on. We have lots of plans for the coming months and will be adding pictures as we go.
The outdoor space gives the children access to water and sand play at all times and provides a different learning experience during literacy, numeracy and creative play and learning.
Another huge benefit is it doubles as an outdoor eating area and over the summer months we have enjoyed eating alfresco style on many occasions. The children love being in the fresh air and this wonderful space means this is possible all year round.
The outdoor classroom is also available to the Caterpillar’s and Butterfly’s as well as the Ladybird’. It’s very important to us that all the children in the setting can benefit from all the facilities.
