Sleeping Bunnies

sleeping bunnies

Todays activity idea is singing, we are singing sleeping bunnies! Below you can see Eve from Butterfly room singing one of the children’s favourite songs!

You will need

All you need for this activity is an iPad, computer or tv to play the video and sing along. Alternatively there are lots of other versions on youtube!

Method

Play the Sleeping Bunnies song below. During the ‘sleeping’ sections the children need to lie as still as possible on the floor. As soon as the music changes, the children jump up and start hopping or jumping to the music (and repeat!!).

See the bunnies sleeping till it’s nearly noon
Shall we wake them with a merry tune?
They’re so still, are they ill?
Wake up little bunnies!
Hop little bunnies, hop, hop, hop
Hop, hop, hop – Hop, hop, hop
Hop little bunnies, hop, hop, hop
Hop, hop, hop…

Early learning opportunities

A younger child may need some physical support, or to be bounced on a knee. Use this as an opportunity for engagement, eye contact and building anticipation.

Extension Ideas

This activity is for all ages and development stages including children with special educational needs, as we all like to sing. Singing songs with actions help physical development, language and vocabulary, cognition and communication.
